There are currently Food Banks throughout the United States as well as in several countries in Europe and Asia.

In Mexico, the concept of the Food Bank emerged in 1991 due to the concern of a Sinaloa inhabitant, born in Culiacan, named Ricardo Bon Echeverria. The project arose one day in which he observed that the tenants of the Abastos Market in Guadalajara, Jalisco were dwindling and throwing away, day after day, a great amount of food which was no longer marketable but still edible, when he had found on more than one occasion that there were many people asking for food aid at that same location.

The first Food Bank officially appeared in 1991 in Guadalajara, Jalisco. One by one they appeared in the whole country until completing what up to 2015 were 61 Food Banks, each of them emerging from the Private Initiative. Currently, the Culiacan Food Bank is presided over by Federico Bazua Lopez and directed by Arturo Torres Santillan.

How this virtual tour was made

When spherical photography is done in groups of people, it is important to do the 4 shots the fastest possible at a high speed to avoid that, with the movement, PTGui cannot perform the photo stitching or the images come out incomplete or duplicated.

This tour took place at noon and the white canvas tent helped as a diffusor for the light, which is why there are no hard shadows.

It was a nice experience to see the enthusiasm of this group of volunteers who worked intensively on this important event, “Hambreton 2015”.

The Culiacan Food Bank is an example of how, when we as citizens join forces, we can attain great achievements for the benefit of our community.
